Now then, as it’s not indicated in the press release, we’re already working to confirm with the studio whether 1) Superman: The Movie will be the new 4K remaster or the same disc released in 2018, 2) whether all the discs contain Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio (the back of the package says they should all have Atmos but only Superman: The Movie has Dolby Vision—we’re checking this), and 3) whether there will be 4K singles of these films here in the States (there are for sure in the UK for all but Superman: The Movie, but so far there’s no sign of US 4K single-film SKUs). When we hear back from WBHE, we’ll post the details here.
[Editor’s Note—4 PM Update: WBHE has replied with the following answers to the questions we posed for clarification: 1) Superman: The Movie 4K utilizes the same video master as the 2018 UHD but now includes the original theatrial audio mix (Comment: We believe this is in DTS-HD MA format now, where as the 2018 4K offered it in lossy 5.1 Dolby Digital. –BH). 2) Superman: The Movie includes Dolby Vision HDR while the sequels include only HDR10. All have Dolby Atmos. 3) No single-film 4K SKUs are currently planned in the US.]
