Bake Apple Pies
Apple scented playdough is perfect for making “apple pies.” Use canning jar lids as pie pans and create your own little pies with kids. It’s a great way to build fine motor skills and role play together in the kitchen. Plus, these pies are perfect for tea parties and “restaurant” play.
I’ve got even more learning fun for your apple pie making adventure! Check out How To Make an Apple Pie and See the World by Marjorie Priceman. With this book, you can explore different cultures and places all over the world with a cute apple pie theme.
APPLE STEM ACTIVITIES WITH PLAYDOUGH
Build an Apple
Another fun hands-on activity you can do with apple-scented playdough involves building your own apples. It’s a great way to encourage STEM building principles with kids. Plus, you can encourage toddlers and preschoolers to explore all the different “parts” of an apple. Perfect for a Montessori apple unit!
You’ll need this apple play dough, cinnamon sticks, and dry beans. Use the dry beans as “seeds” for your apples and the cinnamon sticks as stems. Let your kids have fun building their own apples with all the parts. It’s a great strewing activity to let kids explore and learn independently too.
Play Dough Mats
Using playdough mats to teach early learning concepts is all kinds of fun for preschool and kindergarten learners! You can use play dough mats to help kids build fine motor, practice counting, identify numbers and letters, and practice shapes.
