Teriyaki is definitely my flavour of choice when it comes to sauce. I absolutely love teriyaki chicken wings, teriyaki stir fry, teriyaki chow mien, teriyaki fried rice, teriyaki chicken, teriyaki beef, teriyaki salmon.. okay I’ll stop here before I start to sound like Forest Gump…

I make a homemade teriyaki sauce that is SOOO GOOD!!! The problem? Brown sugar sweetens the sauce and cornstarch thickens it. So, I decided to made my very own sugar free teriyaki sauce!

Why it works

  1. This yummy Sugar Free Teriyaki Sauce is sweetened with lakanto’s golden monk fruit, and is thickened with xanthan gum. You can skip the xanthan gum if it’s a marinade you’re after.
  2. It’s fast and easy! Make this Keto Teriyaki Sauce in under 20 minutes.
  3. The flavours combine to make a Sugar Free Teriyaki Sauce or Marinade that is absolutely delicious!

Keto Teriyaki Sauce ingredients

  • soy sauce
  • water
  • apple cider vinegar
  • brown sugar replacement
  • sesame oil
  • ginger
  • garlic
  • sesame seeds
  • xanthan gum

SweetenerSukrin Gold sweetener is a great brown sugar replacement, but my new favourite is Lakanto’s Golden Monk Fruit sweetener! I find the Lakanto sweetener tastes just a little bit better than the Sukrin Gold.

How to make Low Carb Teriyaki Sauce

Don’t need your sauce thickened? Combine all ingredients, except the xanthan gum, in a small saucepan, bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes. That’s it!

Is it a thick sauce you’re after? Combine all ingredients except the sesame oil and xanthan gum. Whisk to combine, bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes.

Whisk the xanthan gum into the sesame oil, then whisk into the simmering sauce. Continue to mix for about 1 minute, until the sauce has thickened.
