Loft Credit Card Review

4.4 / 5

  • Good initial discount. Like the Ann Taylor Mastercard and the Ann Taylor Store Card, the Loft Mastercard gives you $25off your first qualifying purchase plus an additional $20 after making a purchase within the first 60 days. That means any purchase made at any Ann Taylor or Loft store location or through one of their respective websites. This isn’t in the top tier of first-purchase discounts – some retailer-affiliated cards offer 20% to 30% off – but it’s close.

  • Great ongoing rewards. The Loft Credit Card gives you 5 points per $1 spent at Loft and Ann Taylor, which equates to 5% back since 2,000 points gets you $20 in store credit. You’ll also get 2 points per $1 spent (2% back) on gas and grocery purchases, and 1 point per $1 spent (1% back) on everything else. For context, the average credit card offers about 1.15% back, according to WalletHub research.

  • Treats throughout the year. Not only does the Loft Credit Card give you $15 off an in-store purchase during your birthday month each year, but it also entitles you to 15% off Ann Taylor and Loft purchases every Tuesday. Perhaps that’s why they call it the Love Loft Card.

  • No annual fee. Retailer-affiliated credit cards generally don’t charge annual fees, so this is really nothing special. But all else being equal, not having to pay for your Loft Card is definitely better than the alternative.

  • Very bad APR. The average credit cards for people with good and excellent credit charge interest at annual rates of 24.36% and 18.2%, respectively. The Ann Taylor Loft Credit Card, which requires good or excellent credit for approval, has a high APR. That means you definitely don’t want to carry a balance from month to month.

  • Only for good credit and better. The fact that the Loft Mastercard requires at least good credit for approval means you should make sure to check your credit score before applying. But don’t worry too much if you discover that you’re unlikely to qualify. The Ann Taylor Store Card only demands fair credit for approval and offers nearly identical rewards, including the $20 first-purchase discount plus an additional $20 after making a purchase within the first 60 days and 5 points per $1 spent at Ann Taylor and Loft.

How can I pay my Loft Credit Card?

Reply

Maria Adams, Credit Cards Moderator

@m_adams

You can make Loft Credit Card payment online, by phone, by mail or through EasyPay. To pay Loft Credit Card bill online, log in to your online account and find the payment button. Then, choose how much to pay, when to pay it, and where the payment is coming from. Comenity Capital Bank does allow cardholders to set up automatic payments, too.

Ways to Make Loft Credit Card Payment

  • Online: Log in to your online account or use the EasyPay feature in order to pay your bill.
  • By phone: Call (866) 886-1009 and enter your card information when prompted.
  • By mail: Send a check or money order (but not cash) to

    Comenity Bank
    PO Box 650018
    Dallas, TX 75265-0018.

Make sure to send it early enough that it will arrive by the due date. Write your credit card number on the check, too.

In conclusion, there are multiple ways to make a Loft Credit Cardpayment, so just choose whichever method is easiest for you. The important part is to not miss payments, as that can seriously damage your credit score.

I have paid on the date my payment is due each month, yet I'm getting hit with $41 late fees for not paying by "5 pm" on the due date. Loft/Comenity, are you aware that midnight is when the date changes? You are reinventing the wheel so you can unfairly charge your members with late fees. This is an unfair practice, considering most people work until 5 pm and are not focused on your stringent rules during their workday. You are setting people, who are already struggling, up for failure. Your customer service is also subpar. Upon complaining via phone, your representative clearly hung up during our conversation. I recommend not doing business with Comenity or The Loft if they continue to support these practices. Terrible!

*PLEASE READ IF THIS HURT YOUR CREDIT* Purchased something for $9 with my card. Had a late fee & called to get it paid off. They did not include the late fee so I got charged another late fee - $18. I paid it through my account/checking & apparently it didn’t go through so I got another late fee! My $9 purchase went to $38. I just paid it off online again. It went to $0 finally, but the next day my credit score dropped 60 points! I was furious.. I filed 3 disputes to creditors (Transunion, Equifax, etc.) & thankfully they ALL disputed it & my credit score went back up. These people tried ruining my excellent credit score over $40! With that being said, if it gets to your credit try to get the charge disputed. I read some reviews where people just accepted the credit drop not knowing they can dispute so just want to make it clear to others you can reverse it! Will no longer be using this card & makes me have a bad taste for LOFT overall tbh

Loft Comenity Bank's credit card has absolutely terrible customer service. I opened a credit card and charged $56 and paid it in full online. I didn't realize the payment was a day late and was charged a $30 late fee. The next month came, and I didn't think I had a balance, so I didn't check the account. The following month I realized I was charged another $30 late fee.

I called customer service to get the late fee removed, but they refused! I said this is basically robbery since I paid the balance. I spoke with two supervisors, and they refused to take the late fees off!

I filled out a complaint online but didn't hear back from them. I called them back the next day, and the man said he couldn't talk to me, and I cannot call again for 18 months!! He would not let me speak and kept talking over me.

I am going to continue to try to get this resolved because it is very unfair to charge customers when they pay their balance and to treat them this way.

Be warned: Do not get this card! If you do not make your payment by 5:00 PM ET, which is their cutoff time, they will assess a $30 late fee. Even if you pay at 5:01 PM; you will be assessed the fee ON THE DUE DATE. Don't bother calling customer service because they will still charge you the late fee if it's after 5:00 PM and charge you a $9 "expedited payment fee" to make the payment over the phone when this does not expedite the payment at all. It’s merely a phone payment fee. This is a horrible company with terrible business practices designed to steal your money via strategic and predatory trickery! Stay away!

I was sent a bill, which I paid in full the following day. My payment was not received and a second bill with interest and fees was sent. When I called customer service I was told that mailed checks can take up to 21 days to process. I find this hard to believe when the payment is sent directly to Loft's bank. The bank processes the payment and sends Loft the details so that my account is credited. This is how it works. So sent the full payment including their fees and interest again! I sent it the day after receiving my bill. They took 9 days to process it and then send me a third bill stating that I owe interest. Worst credit card that I have ever owned. It has been shredded. Do not use this card. So not worth it.

Sounded like a good idea at first, it’s been nothing but trouble since I got it. I created my account and made my first payment okay, but every time since has been a nightmare. Sign in with my saved username and password? Wrong. Put in my info for forgot my password? Username is wrong. Plug in info to pull account info? It tells me my username is in fact the username I had been putting in. Try to use that username under forgot password again? Username is wrong. So I get to the point where they’re supposed to text or email a code that I’ll have to enter to reset my password and it just never gets sent, no matter how many times I try. Once I finally manage to get in and pay this card off, I’m done. The savings are not worth this impossible nightmare dance.

Ruined my 820 credit score and took it down 130 points literally overnight ??? 7 months later and my score is still down 50 points from where it was. A decade of hard work lost over a hidden fee. I paid the card in full the 1st month I had it before the due date and learned the hard way that shady cards like this post hidden interest fees even after the balance is at 0. I didn’t know I was charged a fee after my balance was paid in full until it hit my credit and that stupid $3 fee has cost me more heartache and stress than you could ever imagine as I was trying to buy a house (and was financing alone. Single mom.) Customer service (calls, emails, letter) refused to help which was shocking to me. This card taught me to never EVER get another store credit card ever again. No discount is worth the stress and heartache.

Verified Customer

I have absolutely zero positive feedback and would have rated this zero stars if I could have. Their customer service is the worst I've ever experienced. I opened the card to get a discount on ONE purchase I made at the Loft, tried to log in online to pay in full but could not access my account after multiple attempts. I couldn't find my account number in any email I've received or letter mailed to me from Comenity. After wasting my time online, I called customer service. I made the payment IN FULL ON THE DUE DATE. They tried to give me the run around saying since I called too late (in the early afternoon on the due date) that I'd get late fees, but after I explained to the service rep that I was unable to access my account online due to their incompetence, the customer service rep assured me that if there was late fees, they would be waived. Now, I recently opened my mail to see they've been continually charging me late fees despite making the payment in full on time. I called again today and the lady repeatedly lied to me and told me I didn't make the payment until May 18th despite the due date being May 16th. I told her 4 times to go check when my last phone call to them was made because I made the payment over the phone. She kept saying she was going to put me on hold and speak to her supervisor, then every time instead of answering my simple question- when did I call them- she tried to negotiate with me to get me to pay $100 of the late fees that should have never been on my account in the first place. I found an email they sent me asking me to rate my customer service experience from the morning of May 17th, so I know this lady straight up lied to me. They don't have any email address on their website to allow me to dispute all of this with someone ON THIS CONTINENT about their customer service team's incompetence and lies that I can now prove after pulling up my phone record. I told the rep that I have proof that she's lying to me and will be reporting this as fraud, she finally agreed to waive all late fees. Given my experience thus far, I will not be surprised when I check again next week and that is not the case.
