Audience Member The story behind this series is a sad one. It was another one launched to sell toys but they put the toys out first, then the show, then the movie so audiences were very confused. The movie is all you need to watch to thoroughly enjoy this universe and concept. The animators outdid themselves on this and the backgrounds are just stunning and pull you right in to their world. Bravestarr is another series that needs attention from Shout Factory and Netflix. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Not many feature versions of TV programmes can pull off, but this is one that definitely does. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Love this 1987 cartoon! Enjoying seeing Marshall Brave Starr and his partner horse 30-30 go into action against Tex Hex and his goons in New Texas! The cartoon created by the same people that created the cartoon "He-Man: Masters Of The Universe"! I was surprised this cartoon only had one season (20 episodes)! Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Any young boy you grew up in the late 80's and early 90's will undoubtedly remember the excellent cartoon "Bravestarr" about a Marshall with four special powers on a futuristic Wild West type planet. The show was so popular that a feature length origin story was released in 1988 and was as good as could be expected. The plot focuses on the origins of all characters from the cartoons series and just how they ended up in the various positions that they are in. The first 45 minutes focuses on how the town of New Texas came to be and also how Marshall Bravestarr ended up there as well as the various other characters of the series. The final 45 minutes is when the real plot kicks in as an evil entity called Stampede plans to destroy the world with the help of Tex Hex and various other villains and it's up the Bravestarr and the townsfolk to band together and save the day.Really this film will only appeal to fans of cartoon series as the first 45 minutes is very plot heavy and will struggle to hold the attention of young kids. Having said that it explains the origins of all the characters perfectly and it's great to watch how so many of them came to be. The final 45 minutes plays out as a longer version of one of the cartoons and is full of action with every character getting their moment in the sun and Bravestarr using his various powers to save the day.Honestly this film is nothing more than a nostalgia trip but anyone who was a fan of the series will be entertained throughout. They just don't make cartoons like they used to! Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Speed of the Puma! Another in a long line of 80s cartoons designed around a line of action figures, Bravestar does have some charm. A crazy mix of science fiction and western, it mixes themes of 'Cowboys and Indians' with laser guns and aliens. The villain is a giant, demonic, cybernetic bull. The heroes include a rough and tumble horse man who packs a lever action blaster. It's extremely wacky, and on occasion pretty surprisingly cool. Unfortunately, it does fall prey to having the standard Ewok clone 'cute' companion, much like He-Man, Thundercats, and so many others did. But otherwise, not bad for an animated commercial.
